Do It Yourself Projects

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

Picture
Erica & Melissa
I have a ton of bridal magazines so I started by ripping out all the ads with the Brides and Bridesmaids. I printed out pictures of my girls and I and cut out our heads which I then glued to the magazine ad. I bought the matte frame from Wal-Mart and glued all of it together. On the back of the frame I wrote a personal note asking them to be my bridesmaid.

I also gave them a "Bridesmaid Survival Kit" and Homework. The survival kit was personalized for each girl but included basics such as travel sized hair spray, travel sized shout stain remover, Colgate Wisp toothbrush, travel sized lint brush, lotion from Bath and Body Works, nail polish remover pad from Bath and Body Works, and clear nail polish. Their "homework" was a wedding themed DVD. I purchased: Maid of Honor, 27 Dresses, Sex and the City, Bride Wars and Wedding Crashers.

Sign My Vinyl, It's My Guestbook

Picture
This project was super easy and fun to do and is going to make a very unique guestbook at our wedding as well as some neat artwork after we frame it.
So here is what you need: Vinyl Record (Bought mine at Goodwill for $0.74), White Shipping labels ($13.30), and Metallic Sharpie Pens (Pack of 4: $6.70)
I created a new label for our Vinyl in Publisher. Our wedding song is "You and I" by Stevie Wonder but sang by Michael Buble. I printed it out on my ink jet printer and cut it out with scissors, stuck it on the record and TA-DA!

                                                                                                                                                   Total Cost: $20.74

Wine Bottle Table Numbers

Picture
Aren't all my DIY Projects Easy? That would be a YES!
I collected all wine bottles and corks from drinking a lot of wine and also forcing our friends to do the same (13 in total). They are all the darker brown or green glass but all different shapes. I printed out the numbers on White Shipping Label Paper (the same paper I used for the Record Label). I soaked the bottles in soapy water to loosen the glue so taking off the labels was a breeze.
I can't cut a straight line to save my life, so my trusty Craft Helper (Fiance Chad) cut the new labels for me. We found it easier to just eyeball where you wanted the label on the bottle rather than measuring it. Then we stuck the cork half way in and we were DONE!

Bottles & Corks: Collected From Drinking and From Friends; FREE
Label Paper: Already had some so it was FREE

Wedding Favors

Picture
I struggled to find a budget friendly DIY wedding favor that was edible. This was one of many attempts. I started out with Wedding Cake Shaped cookies until I realized the dough I was using expands when baked and needless to say, it was too time consuming. If it ain't easy, I won't do it. This then lead me to mini cupcakes. I finally got the recipe down and then realized the dang favor boxes would cost more than the cupcake. So then I was on to my third baking attempt ... Almond Flavored Sugar Cookies. SCORE!

Pillsbury Cookie Dough (6 Rolls): $10.32
Pure Almond Extract (2 Bottles): $5.00
Favor Organza Bags (8 Packages of 12): $41.74
Favor Tags (Provided By the Famous Magic Ashley): Free!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total Cost (Based on 96 Favors): $57.06

$0.59 Per Favor
